In 2013, José Ocampo brought his vast experience in competitive soccer to the 4S Ranch Community’s Avengers/Arsenal Soccer program, now SD Force FC. With an enthusiastic coaching staff already laying the foundation, he brought his two brothers Erik and Adrian from San Diego Surf and Slammers FC, respectively to strengthen the program. In the short tenure as the Director, he has helped the club be recognized as a rapidly growing program capable to compete against the best teams in Southern California.

As a player, José grew up in the North County, San Diego playing for clubs like Carlsbad Wave, Surf Soccer and Nomads Soccer Club. As a young adult, he played at UCSD and semi-professionally for the San Diego Top Guns. After college both he and his brother Adrian spent a year following their soccer dream of playing professionally in Mexico, landing them in clubs like Chivas de Guadalajara Reservas and Bachilleres de Guadalajara Reservas Div 1A. Currently, playing in the Sunday San Diego County Men’s League allows him to continue playing with his brothers and other retired professional players.

Being a passionate coach is a trait that has allowed José to compete with and against some of the top youth soccer programs in the United States. His extensive experience has led him to coach at different levels from UCSD women’s club team to all high school levels in schools such as Torrey Pines and Oceanside High School. Jose’s coaching at the club level has included Del Mar Sharks and his former club Surf Soccer where he spent 13 years. Best known for his ability to develop elite players, he has helped prepare female athletes to compete at the highest levels of female soccer.
